What Makes Rouquette Different?
These newsletters cover subjects we have no control over -
geology and weather - and those things that we can and have controlled. Together
they constitute what differentiates Rouquette from the enormous choice of wines
in the world today.
Our latest newsletter looks at how we manage the vineyard using lutte raisonnée and alternatives such as organic and biodynamic. In March we updated the way we use barrels and prior to that the crucial question of the yield from the vineyard. In the February 2006 and December 2005 newsletters we tackled the "big" issue of global warming and it's impact on Bordeaux generally and Rouquette in particular. The April 2005 newsletters summed up Rouquette's USPs ("unique selling points"!). Before that we looked at how we use oak barrels to add layers of complexity to the wine and soften the tannins. In the April 2004 letter, we looked in detail at the geology of Rouquette and the impact it has on the quality of the wine. The earliest three articles looked at the changes we had made since buying Rouquette four years earlier and how we had changed the pruning and reduced the use of sulphur in our wine.
